Drawing Vector-Looking Cat Illustration Using PhotoshopVector illustrations are known to be rather popular in web graphics today. Professional designers are able to create such illustrations in a matter of couple hours. If you are a beginner or an amateur, the tutorials in web-graphics would certainly be of a great use for you. The aim of this tutorial is to place in the clearest light the process of creating the chosen image. Step by step I will show the whole process and with the help of my notes I will clarify all these stages.

To create really cool image you have to choose the necessary program and to follow certain schedule. If you want to draw some vector illustrations you have to bear in mind that vector-type editors Adobe Illustrator or CorelDraw are used for this purpose. However, Photoshop has sufficient funds to draw vector illustrations. I will demonstrate it in this tutorial concerning the outlining the sketch in the vector. I have taken a sketch of a cat as the basis of this illustration. I have decided to depict blue cat with green eyes and pink flowers in its paw. Here is my final result.

Creating Business Style Template Design

There’re a lot of resources that provide free website templates in Internet. One of them - FreeTemplatesOnline.com Here you can download plenty of free and premium templates. However, if this is a free (or premium) template, somebody else can also download it, and use it for his website. That’s why I’ve made up my mind to make a tutorial with the detailed description of creating a template from the very beginning. I hope it allows you to create your own templates in future, or to make some changes in the existing ones.

You can see the result of my work - this template. It took me 8 hours to draw this template. You wiil be able to recreate this template in 1 up to 2 hours using my instructions and possessing the basic experience of work in Photoshop.

Giving a Mafia-Look to a Business Photo

Print advertisements - is one of the most interesting kinds of advertisement known. It attracts your attention by means of interesting effects and bright, clever and striking slogans. One of those attracted my attention lately. We often notice interesting prints in different places. The good and reasonable combination of the idea and its clever realization brings striking effect. From time to time, when I see interesting prints, I think that it is possible to make something resembling those at home using Photoshop. My last impression is this advertisement:

I found out that this advertisement has been made by the team Stanescu/Dumitrescu/Pilat for the Mccann Erickson Agency. This print won the 8th edition of AdPrint festival in the nomination Best Use of Copywriting. So, I decided to create something of that sort and make a detailed step-by-step instruction of my work. My aim was to create special mood, which is slightly alike with that seen in original, and texture using Photoshop tools. Here’s the result:

Pencil Shading Effect

In this article I’ll show you how to make a perfect effect from your photo.

You need Adobe Photoshop 7.0 and five minutes. Let’s start.

Step 1.

Open your photo and duplicate background layer (apply Layer > Duplicate Layer). Now choose “Background copy” layer. Choose Elliptical Marquee Tool and make an elliptical selection. Go to channels palette and crete a new channel (Alpha 1).

Step 2.

Apply Select > Feather with the following settings: Feather Radius->45px. And apply Edit > Fill...(White) or press ALT+Del. Now add some noise, apply Filter > Noise > Add Noise with the following settings: Amount->25, Distribution->Uniform, Monochromatic->ON. Apply Filter > Brush Strokes > Angled Strokes with the following settings: Direction balance-> 10, Stroke length->44, Sharpness->10.

Step 3.

Go to layers palette and choose “Background copy” layer. Now apply Select > Load Selection with the following settings: Operation->New selection, Channel->Alpha1. Apply Select > Inverse and press Del.

Step 4.

Choose “Background” layer. Choose Elliptical Marquee Tool and make an elliptical selection. Go to channels palette and crete a new channel (Alpha 2). Apply Select > Feather with the following settings: Feather Radius->20px. Apply Select > Inverse and then apply Edit > Fill..(White). Now add some noise, apply Filter > Noise > Add Noise with the following settings: Amount->8, Distribution->Uniform, Monochromatic->ON. Apply Filter > Brush Strokes > Angled Strokes with the following settings: Direction balance-> 83, Stroke length->44, Sharpness->10.

Step 5.

Go to layers palette and choose “Background” layer. Now apply Select > Load Selection with the following settings: Operation->New selection, Channel->Alpha 2. Apply Select > Inverse and fill it (apply Edit > Fill..(White)). Now apply Select > Inverse again and Edit > Fill..(White). You will get a pencil shading photo like mine.

And that’s it.
