Drawing Animated HeartThis is a great little tutorial that will show you how to create your very own animated beating heart. There is still a lot of time until Valentines Day but you can always make it and save it for later.

We always want to give presents to loved ones. These presents may be material or non-material. But Birthday Cards, Christmas Cards or Valentine’s Cards that can be sent to friends and family are always popular. Now you can create your own Cards! To begin a card you will create an animated heart.

So, open Photoshop. Create a New Document, size 300×300 px. Then, choose Shape tool with the Shape Layers parameter, then choose Heart Shape. Set out the Foreground Color #FD7FA3. Now draw a heart that should take up most of the space in the window. Choose Shape1 and Background together. Select Move tool and center the heart in the window.

Heart

Now go to Blending Options and set out the next Drop Shadow:

This is what you should get.

Heart Blending

Now duplicate the layer three times with the heart. Using Free Transform tool, resize one heart to 95% of the original. The second heart to 90% of the original, and the third to 85% of the original, leave the fourth heart unchanged.

Hearts

Now proceed to Image Ready (Ctrl+Shift+M).

Open the animation panel, then press the little triangle in the right upper corner of the panel. Press the Make Frame from Layers . Shift the layer with the background in the trash.

Animation

You should get 4 frames with 4 hearts having different sizes.

Choose the second frame and press Duplicate current frame. Then drag over the layer created at the end of the animation tape. Repeat the same procedure for the third heart.

You should get 6 frames. Now set delay time to 0.05 seconds for the first frame, and to 0.1 seconds for the fourth. Save your work and enjoy the result .

Thank you! I am rather new to Photoshop and am self-teaching myself as I go. this was a wonderful tutorial (although I got caught up on duplicating frames to make 4 into 6) – needless to say, it was very easy to follow and i will use to help me try new things from. Thanks again!

Hi, I love the little pink heart it’s gorgeous and i’m thinking of using it on a website of mine.

    The website isn’t launched yet.

Is it possible to do this technique with an image as the heart. like an animated pattern in a heart shape.

That is what I’d like to create.

I’d really appreciate a reply, I’m new to this internet design thing and I’m not that familiar with photoshop software at the moment, just a beginner…
    :)

You save it by pressing the “Save to webb…” instead of just “Save as”. It is a little under the save as button.

So sad that a beginner new to using Photoshop cannot get a decent tutorial anywhere, where the teacher assumes that everyone is an expert and knows where everything is and all the terminology involved with Photoshop. How about some step by step instructions for those of us who are beginners.
